For the second time in its 22-year history, the International Symposium on Online Journalism will be held completely virtually from April 26-30, 2021, sponsored by the Knight Foundation and Google News Initiative. Registration for ISOJ, the premier global online journalism conference, is now available for free at https://isoj2021.splashthat.com.

We can’t wait to bring together the ISOJer community of journalists, media executives, and scholars from across the globe! ISOJ is the annual conference centered on the evolution and development of journalism for the digital era. ISOJ aims to bridge the gap between academia and the news industry, and serve as a barometer for the current state of online journalism in the United States and around the world.

Similar to last year, the program will spread from Monday to Friday and will cover a variety of topics. The session times are structured in intervals throughout each day of the conference to best accommodate attendees with other activities and commitments. All sessions will be simultaneously interpreted into Spanish.

The sessions will include keynotes with renowned newsroom executives and innovators, panels of researchers, journalists, and the greatest minds in the industry, plus each day will host a workshop to educate attendees with new mastery of an essential skill in digital journalism. The week is bookended with virtual celebrations and networking opportunities to connect like-minded peers from around the globe.

The program will be released as it is built, and session topics and confirmed speakers will be published on isoj.org. Visit the website to explore further and register for ISOJ Online for free!

Registration for general admission includes access to the full program. Information to access April’s virtual symposium will be distributed via email to all registrants in the days prior to the event. Updates regarding ISOJ Online 2021 will be shared on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Join the conversation using #ISOJ2021 and join the mailing list by emailing isoj@austin.utexas.edu.

The conference is free, but the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas at University of Texas at Austin always accepts donations to ensure that it can continue offering  free access to a diversity of free training programs for journalists. In addition to ISOJ, the Knight Center offers accessible and timely courses, including MOOCs that are open for all journalists and interested parties. It also  publishes LatAm Journalism Review, a trilingual digital magazine. If you would like to support the Knight Center, please click here.
